Welcome from Stevenson PTA! We have an amazing community of students, parents, teachers and staff at our school, and we are glad you are here.
My name is Libby Minarik, and I'm honored to be your president of Stevenson PTA for the 2021-2022 school year. I am committed to making this school year a great one for your kids and for you.
I'm a working mom with two kids, a 7th grader (graduate of Stevenson) and a 3rd grader. So I've been around our school for a long time. And I’ve seen the remarkable impact our PTA’s programming has on our kids and on our community.
I got involved with PTA right after the first PTA meeting I attended 7 years ago. And I will never tire of being part of a new, joyful experience for our students. Not to mention that PTA is where I made some of my first friends at Stevenson. I hope the same will be true for you too. PTA is doing incredible things.
PTA was founded more than 100 years ago by women who held the then radical belief that children deserved a childhood. They believed that a quality of life for children was not only necessary and beneficial to children, but also to society as a whole. This remains the core belief of PTA.
PTA is first and foremost an advocacy organization for children and families. This advocacy takes place at many levels—national, state, city, and at our schools. PTA's advocacy over the years has been a part of creating Kindergarten, child labor laws, school safety standards, and hot lunch programs. And PTA is not done yet.
On a school level we fund and run programming to enrich our kids' lives and instill them with values that help them become better citizens of the world. PTA also helps provide parents with tools to engage and to be a part of your child’s education and our school community.
Our PTA is here for you and your kids. Email me any time with a school question, and I'll try to find an answer. If you see me at an event, please say hello. I’d love to meet you!
Let’s have a fantastic year together!
PTA President 2021-2022
Hello Stevenson Parents! Welcome to the start of the 2021-2022 school year. My name is Melanie Pal, and I am thrilled to be President of Families for Stevenson. From the moment our family joined Stevenson Elementary a couple of years back when our daughter started kindergarten, I was bowled over by the sense of community I felt here. Everyone involved with the school, from parents and caregivers, to teachers and administrators, all care so deeply about our kids, the quality of their education, and all that surrounds it.
The arts provide a window for many children to start expressing themselves- to find their voice and figure out who they are, so to be able to help support arts programming for these students is critical to me. Plus, (and most importantly!) arts programming is FUN!
Last year was certainly a unique one and I know we are all looking forward to the opportunity to see our school community again in person. If you find yourselves in a position to give, please consider supporting arts education at Stevenson with a donation to the FFS Family Giving Campaign.
I look forward to connecting with all of you!
Melanie Pal, President
