  • All music acts must electronically submit an edited MP3 file and lyrics of their song to talentshow@stevensonpirates.org.
    • Singing acts must use a karaoke or instrumental only track.

  • Performers attend ALL scheduled rehearsals.
  • Parents volunteer two hours toward the talent show (flexible as to place and time)..

How to Participate

  1. REGISTER for the talent show.  This involves filling out the google form that collects registration info, a student agreement and a permission slip, selecting an audition time and sending us your music. Everyone needs to register including 5th Grade dancers and commercial and interstitial performers.
  2. AUDITION for the director. This is your chance to SHOW us your solo or group act you plan on performing in the talent show. Everyone who registers and “auditions” will be able to participate. Auditions are also held to check for appropriateness of content.  This is decided by the Talent Show Committee and the Principal. All decisions are final. Acts do not have to be 100% complete for the audition.  The concept and music must be decided.
  3. REHEARSE. You will need to practice at home and attend all scheduled rehearsals.
  4. PERFORM on stage on recording day!  Or RECORD yourself at home if you prefer.
  5. WATCH the talent show with your family on the video release day! Take a bow and celebrate!

Glossary

Solo Act: One performer in a 90 second act.

Group Act: Two or more performers performing together in a 90 second act.

Audition: This is your chance to show us what you plan on doing for your Solo or Group Act in the talent show.
  • If you are dancing or singing, you will need to email your mp3 before auditions (by 2/27).
  • You do not have to have your act memorized for auditions.
  • The purpose of the audition is for the talent show team to get a feel for what your act is and start planning the best way to showcase your talent in the final show!

Rehearsals: This means practicing your solo or group act, as well as your entrance and exit, on the auditorium stage.
  • You will need to practice at home and also attend at least two rehearsals.
  • Solo and group acts will be assigned rehearsals on two of the following days: 3/7, 3/9, 3/14, 3/16, 3/28, 3/30. You will be asked to sign up for a rehearsal time slot between 2:45-6pm.
  • Rehearsal assignments and sign ups will be emailed out after auditions.
  • You will also need to attend tech and dress rehearsals.
  • Tech/Dress rehearsals will be broken up into smaller groups so that no performer will have to be at the rehearsals too long and also so that we can limit the number of people in the auditorium at same time.

Tech Rehearsal: These are the rehearsals in which we start setting the sound, lights, props, etc.
  • You will be required to attend one live Tech rehearsal on either 4/4 or 4/6. You will be given a time slot from 2:45 - 7pm.
  • These rehearsals will be broken up into smaller groups so that no performer will have to be at the rehearsals too long and also so that we can limit the number of people in the auditorium at same time.

Dress Rehearsal: These are the rehearsals where we add in costumes and wardrobe. These rehearsals may also be recorded.
  • You will be required to attend one live Dress rehearsals on either 4/7 or  4/8. You will be given a time slot from 2:45 - 7pm
  • These rehearsals will be broken up into smaller groups so that no performer will have to be at the rehearsals too long and also so that we can limit the number of people in the auditorium at same time

Performance / Recording Day: This is the day you get to perform on stage while being filmed by the camera crew.
  • The show will be recorded on Saturday, 4/9
