Once you submit your application, email Stevenson's Office Manager Andrea ([email protected]) and she will help guide you through the rest of the process (including getting a volunteer badge). You can also reach out to [email protected]. (Only on site volunteers need to be cleared. There are also several "VOLUNTEER FROM HOME" opportunities.)
VOLUNTEER FROM HOME Ad Sales Coordinator VOLUNTEER FROM HOME. This is perfect for the grown-ups that are not cleared volunteers. Contact local businesses about purchasing ads in the program, and manage performer ad purchases.
Program / Playbill Manager / Designer VOLUNTEER FROM HOME. Create the playbill or printed program. Text will be sent to you, ready to input into your design.
Talent Show Logo and Graphics VOLUNTEER FROM HOME. Create/Design a graphic or graphics to be used on the certificates, t-shirt/hats, playbill, fliers, canvas and posters/banners.
Writers VOLUNTEER FROM HOME. Write skits, host bits or Poquito Mas (official Talent Show Sponsor) commercials. Rough drafts due to director before first talent show workshop in December.
Pre-Order Flower Bouquet Sales Manager VOLUNTEER FROM HOME. Manage a Google Form and the responses for pre-sale flower bouquet orders. Order the flowers from the flower shop, pick up in downtown Los Angeles and deliver to the school on the first show day. Arrange for buckets, water and bouquet sleeves.
VOLUNTEER IN-PERSON AT THE SCHOOL
Rehearsal Gate Monitors We will need at least one adult to monitor the gate during each rehearsal and check performers in and out. An online sign up form will be sent out to all of the grownups after registration.
Rehearsal Music Op IN AUDITORIUM / BACK STAGE. Push play on each song on an iPad or computer during the workshop and rehearsals.
Lighting Director / Designer / Technician IN AUDITORIUM. Be present during tech rehearsals to program light board and help set the lights. Communicate with director and set designer about the lighting needs prior to tech week. Teach Light Board Op if needed.
Lighting Board Op IN AUDITORIUM. Run the light board during tech, dress and performances.
Art Department Assist the Set Designer/Art Director with set decorations. Assist performers with finding props and costumes if needed.
Spotlight Op 1 and Spotlight Op 2 IN AUDITORIUM. Be present during tech week and on the performance days.
House Manager IN AUDITORIUM and LOBBY. Be present during the final dress rehearsal and on the performance days. Manage the ushers and assist producers with volunteer coordination.
Stage Manager IN AUDITORIUM. Be present during tech week and on the performance days. Call the curtain, performer and light cues via a walkie talkie.
Stage Crew: Stage Right (2 Volunteers) - Curtain Operator, Set Crew and Props IN AUDITORIUM. These folks should be available during tech week and on the performance recording day. Sample tasks include: moving set pieces and props, opening and closing the stage curtain, making sure performers are on deck/ready. Stage Crew: Stage Left (2 Volunteers) - Microphones, Set Crew and Sound Board IN AUDITORIUM. These folks should be available during tech week and on the performance recording days. Sample tasks include: moving set pieces, adjusting microphone stands for each performer, making sure the mics are on and the sound levels feel good and are consistent. Sign In/Out for Performers on Show Days/Tech Week (2) OUTSIDE. Sign every performer in on show days and tech week. Communicate with the director if anyone is missing. When signing out you need to make sure a grown up signs out their performer on the sign out sheet.
Ticket Check-In for Audience on Show Days OUTSIDE. Sit at a table outside the front gate and check off audience members on the ticket/guest list as they enter.
Library/Green Room Supervisors LIBRARY. These folks should be available during tech week and on the performance recording days. Monitor the performers in the Library "holding area" and communicate with the on deck supervisor and director.
Lunch Shelter/Green Room Supervisors LUNCH SHELTER. These folks should be available during tech week and on the performance recording days. Monitor the performers in the Lunch Shelter "holding area" and communicate with the on deck supervisor and director.
5th Grade Dance Captain Wrangle and entertain the 5th graders during Tech Week and on Show Days. Attend the 5th Grade Dance rehearsals. Remind 5th graders to practice their dance moves and to attend rehearsals. Take photos of the 5th grade dance rehearsals. Assist with props or costumes for the 5th grade dance and skits/commercials, if needed. Assist 5th Grade Director, if needed.
On Deck Supervisors BACK STAGE DOOR. The volunteers stand on deck outside behind the stage and help performers get into and out of the auditorium at their designated times. They also will communicate with the Green Room Supervisors for the Library and Lunch Shelter.
Ushers AUDITORIUM. These volunteers help guests to their seats and manage exit flow on show days.
Flower Pick-Up Table on Show Days OUTSIDE. Monitor the table and orders for flower pick up.
Concessions Coordinator OUTSIDE. Help plan and organize the concessions for Intermission. NO food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium.
Popcorn Sales on Show Days OUTSIDE. Pop and Sell individual bags of popcorn on show days during intermission. NO food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium.
